Compare and Contrast Essay ( comparison between cendol and ice kacang)
Hi, guys... it has been a long time since I updated my blog as I was a little bit busy with my study. However, because of this pandemic, I need to do work from home and I can finally find some free time. So today, I would like to post a sample of compare and contrast essay😉. Hip Hip Hurray! This is my first time posting my essay so I'm very excited and also nervous at the same time.
In this essay, I did contrast and comparison between cendol and ice kacang, which are the two famous desserts in Malaysia. The word count need be less than 350 words so it's kinda short.
This was completely written by me and I'm very sure there are some flaws but I hope this will benefit my reader in any way. Plus, I'm very open to criticism and comment so please just point out my mistakes so that I can improve myself and my writing☺️. Without further ado, let's begin!
....
As diverse as the people, desserts in Malaysia are obtainable in the vast array not only during special occasions but also in everyday life. Influenced by the tropical weather, Malaysians extremely enjoyed desserts at all times. Myriad of roadside stalls which vend local desserts such as cendol and ice kacang can be seen everywhere. There are several similarities and differences between these two most sought after desserts.
To compare in terms of fame, cendol is more well known than ice kacang. Cendol is accessible in multiple countries of Southeast Asia and picked as national cuisine by 9 countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar. On the other hand, ice kacang can only be found in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei. This can be associated with the history of these desserts as cendol was made a long time ago before the establishment of ais kacang.
The most notable resemblance between these two desserts is the ingredients. Although many variations of cendol and ice kacang are available, the main ingredients are still maintained and similar to each other. For instance, both contains shaved ice, palm sugar syrup, and adzuki beans. Because of that, both have nearly similar sweet-taste and are served cold.
One criterion that people look at when choosing a dessert is the calorie level. The level varies depending on the size of the serving but a bowl of cendol is said to always have higher calorie than a bowl of ice kacang. One possible reason is that ice kacang contains mostly shaved ice with a little amount of condensed milk and palm sugar syrup while cendol’s elements are mainly the palm sugar syrup and coconut milk which is high in saturated fat.
Consuming desserts is reasonably satisfying and able to boost our happy hormone. While many opine that desserts could ruin our diet, it is needed in a small quantity. It is just that we need to monitor our sugar level regularly. To ensure we lead a healthy lifestyle while still including desserts in our diet, let us exercise frequently to compensate for the sugar intake.
